In 2016, Justice Rita Garman and the Illinois Supreme Court appointed me to the Sixth Judicial Court. After 18 years as Champaign County’s Chief Public Defender, I was ready to step into a greater role in our state’s judicial system. Presiding over cases that impact the families and members of our community has shown me the need for clear, thoughtful leadership in our judicial system. And that is why I’m running for the Sixth Judicial Court.
Two of my greatest skills are using common sense and bringing people together to find common ground in challenging disputes. As Champaign County’s primary family law judge, I work tirelessly to mediate all cases, many of which are emotionally-charged custody disputes.
I’m proactive in my approach to cases. I actively participate in settlement conferences with the goal of avoiding lengthy, expensive and contentious trials, and benefitting the various parties.
In the course of my career, I’ve tried more than 100 jury trials, represented thousands of clients, supervised staff and managed taxpayer money responsibly. My experience and perspective puts me in a prime position to continue my work as the Sixth Circuit Judge of Illinois.
I’m passionate about my work and would like to continue doing it. That’s why I’m asking for your vote in November for Circuit Judge in Champaign, Douglas, DeWitt, Macon, Moultrie, and Piatt counties.
